Choosing a WMS

Choosing a WMS you won't regret.

No comparison table with brand names. Four questions that show whether a WMS fits your operation, or whether you'll be searching again in a year.

Four questions before you sign

Not a full due-diligence process. Just the four questions that separate a system that grows with you from one you'll have to leave behind.

01
Does it connect to your own channels?

Not just the big names. Ask about your specific sales channel and carrier, and whether connecting it is a standard part of the plan or custom development.

02
Can you take your own data with you?

Ask whether your product data, stock history and order history are exportable at any time. A system that locks in your data is a system you'll never leave.

03
What happens on a peak day?

Ask directly: can you add temporary help to pick without a new contract? And does the bill move with the work, or with the number of accounts?

04
Do you pay for people who don't pick?

A per-user price also counts the warehouse manager and the bookkeeper, even though they never pick an order. Ask whether the price moves with the work itself.

Where a wrong WMS choice hurts later

Not at the demo, but six months in. Four moments where a wrong choice becomes visible.

  1. A new sales channel arrives, and the integration doesn't exist

Ask upfront about the integrations you use now and the channels you're considering. A system that only covers the big names breaks the moment you expand.

  2. Switching means retyping everything

Ask explicitly about export options for product data and stock history. Without a concrete answer you're stuck, even if you're unhappy.

  3. Peak-day pressure means a phone call to the vendor

Ask whether extra capacity on a peak day is a setting or a contract change. You'll notice that difference exactly when you have no time to wait.

  4. The bill grows with your team, not your volume

Work out what a pricing model costs at your current and your expected team size, not just your current order volume. A per-user price and a per-order price answer the same question very differently.

Where Tremo answers these four questions

No sales pitch, just the four answers that come with Tremo.

Integrations are part of your plan

Shopify, WooCommerce, Bol, CCV Shop, Lightspeed and eight carriers come standard. Connecting a new channel isn't a separate invoice.

Your data is always exportable

Product data, stock history and orders stay yours. Leave, and you take everything with you, no hassle.

Peak days just mean opening more screens

Adding a colleague to pick costs no new contract. Add a user and they're scanning alongside you immediately.

You pay per completed pick list

Not per account, not per order line. The bill moves with the work your system actually does, not with who logs in.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us when they put multiple systems side by side.

Do I need a new integration built for every sales channel?+
Ask that of every vendor. With Tremo the major sales channels and carriers are connected standard; having one built is the exception, not the rule.
What if I do want to switch to another system?+
That should always be possible without hassle. With Tremo your data is exportable at any time, even after a long period of use.
How many users can I add?+
Unlimited with Tremo: you pay per completed pick list, not per account. Adding a temp worker for one peak day costs nothing extra.
Is a cheap entry price a good sign?+
Not if connection fees, integrations or implementation are billed separately. Ask for the first-year total, not just the monthly price.
Does this also work for a fulfilment company with multiple customers?+
Yes: Tremo separates stock and portals per customer. The four questions in this piece apply just as much to a single warehouse as to multiple merchants in one environment.
